If you have been following our android blog lately then you must have noticed some of the articles mentioning about low cost tablets and how they are good when you are in a budget. But no matter how much you read and research on low cost tablet still you will be unsure whether a $150 tablet will be any good or not.

Well don’t worry because Ainol Novo 7 Elf is perfect tablet with the right price tag on it. The tablet is manufactured in china and now don’t think that since its produced in china it might not stand up to all the tablets but that isn’t true. This tablet offers everything that you can expect from other rival tablets with a heftier price tag.

Performance

The tablet comes preinstalled with Ice Cream Sandwich and this will be surprising for you to hear because the Android 4.0 is powered with a single core processor rather than a dual core processor which we thought will be required for smooth operation of Android 4.0.

Another unexpected thing is that the tablet performs very smoothly and flawlessly as that you would expect from a dual core powered tablet. You can expect some slow down or lags when doing intensive multitasking as would be expected from a single core powered tablet. But none the less it’s amazing how much the Chinese were able to tweak the processor.

The Android 4.0 is the stock one without any major modification to UI and is very fluid. You will get 1GB RAM along with Mali-400MP GPU which we all know that is the most powerful GPU in the market. The operation of the tablet is smooth but sometimes you will face the bottleneck issues due to the processor.

Another surprising thing is that the tablet is able to play 1080p videos very smoothly without any lags which will put other single core tablets to shame. Now you weren’t expecting this from a single core tablet. The 1080p videos are played on a display with a resolution of 1024×600.

Display And Storage

The device comes with an LCD display with a resolution of 1024×600. The display has good sunlight legibility but as with all LCD displays the viewing angles are quite bad. Otherwise the images and videos appear very sharp and crisp. It is perfect for web surfing and entertainment.

In the storage department the tablet comes with 8GB of internal storage out of which only 5.8 GB is user available. But don’t worries you also get a microSD card slot in the device with which you can further expand the storage to 16 GB or more. So storage also isn’t an issue.

The issue is you don’t get Bluetooth connectivity or 3G but you do get WI-FI connectivity along with m mini USB cable which will make sure that your connectivity is covered.

Battery And Conclusion

The tablet is constructed entirely out of plastic and as a result its quite light and very comfortable to hold. The device comes with non-removable 3700mAh battery which is more than enough to power the tablet for several days if you’re not into intensive and demanding tasks.

What to say? This tablet is a great affordable budget device which will make sure to fulfill all your day to day needs without compromising on performance and entertainment. This tablet is available for $184.

Do let us know what you think about this tablet and whether affordable tablets are proper for in the long run or not.
