Akai Launched Android Powered Smart Box for TVs

The Japanese electronics consumer firm, Akai announced the launch of an affordable smart box which turns any TV to a smart TV. It will take on Amkette’s EvoTV another smart TV box launched earlier this year and the Portronics Limebox offer the similar feature at Rs 8500.

Akai Smart Box:

The Akai Smart Box is based on the Google’s open source Android platform and can transform any TV irrespective of whether it is a color TV or LCDs and LEDs into a smart TV. The device comes with a wireless mouse for navigation. It also comes with an open network without getting restricted to any specific server, unlike most Smart TV brands.

Once you have the Akai Smart Box TV added to your television, it can perform all functions which can be done on tablet. You can now connect to internet via the Google Android browser to browse your favorite websites, social networking sites, check weather reports, book travel tickets, market updates, preloaded games, access to android apps via Google Play Store and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) Support, watch Videos on YouTube, shop online and see what your friends are upto by opening Facebook, Twitter or Skype.

Smart Box enables the users to connect to the net through LAN, Wi-Fi or 3G dongle to surf and do any of the things you would do online. It also creates hotspot if connected to a LAN cable or 3G dongle as it transmits a Wi-Fi signal to operate other gadgets.

You can connect upto 5 digital devices to access this internet shared. You can even print your documents from Wi Fi enabled printers of any brand like HP, Lexmark, Canon many more.

The feature does not end here as it has a SD card slot by which you can directly plug in the SD card and see the picture directly on the big screen.

Going through the specifications of the Akai smart box it includes the features such as 1.2 Ghz single core processor with 4Gb of internal memory storage capacity. It has a total of 4 USB 2.0 port to connect it to various devices and includes the Android 2.3 Ginger bread version.
