How to gain root and unlock Bootloader:

  • To access the root first download the root package from here.
  • Then download the Clockworkmod recovery from here.
  • Next reboot the device into the fastboot mode. To do that first you have to power off your device. Just press the power button + Volume up button + Volume Down button.
  • Next unlock the bootloader if it is already locked (i.e fastboot oem unlock) then reboot into fastboot mode again.
  • Next temporarily flash the CWM (fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.2-maguro.img)
  • Then boot your device into recovery by pressing Volume up button two times or else until you see the “Recovery mode” option then press the power button.
  • Next using the Clockworkmod recovery, just install the su.zip that you have downloaded as I have mentioned in the first step.
  • Next reboot the device into the OS.
  • That’s it now you have rooted your device.

How to install the ClockworkMod recovery:

  • First install the Root Explorer from the market and delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p *Mount as R/W first*. See here for help.
  • Next reboot your device into the fastboot mode. To enter into the fastboot mode just press the power off of your device by pressing the power button + Volume Up button and Volume down button.
  • Next flash the CWM (fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.2-maguro.img)
  • Then Reboot into OS (fastboot reboot)
  • That’s it. Now you have installed the CWM permanently in your device.

How to access ClockworkMod:

  • Reboot into fastboot mode. To enter into the fastboot mode just power off your device by pressing (Power + Volume Up and Down)
  • Press Volume up button twice.
  • Press the power button when you see “Recovery mode” selected.
