The developers behind cyanogen mod a famous custom rom has been working hard to release a custom ICS ROM for all the users who own an android device. CyanogenMod 9 is the version that will incorporate the ICS build.

Although CM9 is still in its infancy but it hasn’t stopped the developers from releasing bit and pieces of the OS at frequent intervals. First they released the alpha version of the ROM where you can enjoy the native ICS launcher and now they have released the official CM9 music app. This music app can be used on devices running CM9 or android 4.0 ICS.

The music player was designed keeping the visual styles of ICS and also the developers have added a couple of options which make it more versatile then the music player on ICS.

Since its just an early build there are some problems with this app. Such as the app is just limited to playing your local music files and isn’t able to play the music files that are stored in the Google music cloud. The developer of this awesome music app has mentioned that some services can never be available to this custom music player because Google hasn’t released an API for developing the service such as the aforementioned service. However the developer has promised to incorporate other services such as support for lyrics and some other misc. features that will be available in the future update of the music app.

Among some of the excellent features some are worth mentioning such as you can set any song on your device as your default ring tone and also while listening to it you can just shake your device to pause/play the music or just flip It face down to stop the music temporarily.

The app settings are extensive. You can customize the entire app according to your liking. You have the option to display which type of controls are displayed in the app’s main screen. Also you can define the type of gestures controls that will enable to control your music.

The status bar controls can also be customized to your heart’s desire. You can control what kind of controls should be displayed in the status bar while the music is playing. Some of the customizations that you can carry out in the status bar are:

  • Add playback controls
  • Enable album art
  • Tweak font settings

You can also tweak the sound enhancements for your headsets, Bluetooth or device’s speaker. There are already some equalizers present you can choose from but if you don’t like any of them then you can define or create your own equalizer.

This music app is one of the most amazing app and is all set to be released in android market. If you cant wait then you visit the developers website and download the app from there along with a variety of themes.

Changes the developer has introduced to this ICS player:

  • Option to download and apply different skins or themes.
  • Purchase and delete track from within the app
  • Ability to customize the status bar UI
  • Gesture and motion controls
  • Cool animations during transition between different tracks.
  • 5-band equalizer
  • ICS style home screen widgets in multiple sizes.
