Directly from the notification screen, you can now make a phone call, or look up an event location on Google Maps. Actually, it is a small, but meaningful addition for Jelly Bean users.
If you are in the month view on the calender, you can long press on a time and date to enter an event. As you fill out the details for the event, Google Calender will start filling in or suggest locations based on your contacts, previous locations in the calender and more.
The update is in the Google Play Store and is free, just waiting for you to install it.
