How to Disable the Apps Running in Background of Android Smartphone

Thousands of apps are available for Android devices. The number of new apps are increased every month. In that thousands of apps large number of apps are running in the background of your android device even-though you do not activate that.

As a result, it makes your phone much slower and drain your battery. As a user you need to check that often and disable the unwanted apps. So, that your device life will be long and moreover you can access the data very fast in your mobile. Here are a few tips for you to disable the background apps. So, let’s begin.

Disable Background apps

It’s really very easy for you to disable the apps. For that, you can use the Task Manager or Task killer applications which is available in the Google Play Store. Even some widgets are also available that can kill all the running background apps with just one click.

But by doing so, you have some disadvantageous also. Yes, for example if Skype is running in the background and you want to kill it, you could do so manually or use a third party task manager app. However, some of these apps from unknown developers do not kill just the app but also some process that are used by the app which are also required for the phone’s normal functioning. By disabling the app, it totally disappears from the app drawers as well and no third party app can execute it.

  • First open the app drawer from your homescreen and choose settings. Alternatively, ICS devices also have a quick shortcut to settings from the notification bar when pulled down from the top.
  • Once you entered into the Settings, choose “Apps” from the list there.
  • There, you will see three tabs on the top namely “On SD Card”, “Running” , “All”.
  • Just Tap the “All” button and you will be taken into the screen displaying all the installed apps on your phone along with default stock apps of Android.
  • Choose the app that you want to stop and you will get two boxes named “Force Stop” and “Disable”.
  • Tap the “Disable” button and a warning notification pop-up box might come up asking if you are sure in executing this action. Tap “OK”.
  • Now the app is disabled and is pushed towards the end of the list. To Enable, choose the app again and choose enable. That’s it. It’s really a simple process.

Please make a note that, if you disable the app, it will disappear from the app drawer until you enabled it again in the settings page. To temporarily stop apps, you should choose the “Force Stop” Button while disabling it totally stops the app from being executed or functioning till it is enabled manually by the user.
