How to Flash a Custom ROM on HTC One X

In the previous articles, we have explained about how to root and how to flash the recovery in the HTC One X smartphone.

In this tutorial we will discuss about how to flash the custom ROM in HTC One X. Numerous number of custom ROMs are available for this device. Let’s see how to flash them at below.


Pre requisites:

1. Please note that before start to flash any new custom ROM it is important to backup your current ROM (It can be done through recovery) and other internal datas. Because, there is a chance to wipe them all after flashing a new one. If you have a backup of all those datas you could easily recover them back.

2. Make sure you have unlocked your device and flashed the recovery.

3. Then charge your device battery fully. Minimum 70% is recommend from our side so that you can avoid your device getting switched off during the middle of the process due to battery low.

4. Then disable or uninstall all the antivirus software installed both in your device and computer. Because this may interrupt the process.

Update : To flash the boot.img you could use this tool Automated Fastboot Commands for HTC one X.

1. First download any one of the custom ROM which you want to flash.

2. Then download the Superwipe and copy it to your SD card. Extract just the Boot.img from the custom ROM folder (You can use WinRAR or 7zip)

3. Turn off your device and press the power button and volume button to get into the Bootloader.

4. Use your Volume button to scroll down to Fastboot and press the power button to select it.

5. Open the command prompt and point to fastboot folder (Download the fastboot from here).

6. Type in

fastboot flash boot boot.img

fastboot erase cache

7. Select HBoot that will take to Bootloader

8. Select the recovery and reboot into your recovery.

9. Do a nandroid backup (Select the backup option)

10. If you are coming from Stock ROM then select the install zip from SD card and select the

11. It will wipe everything from your phone not in the SD card.

12. Now, select the install zip from SD card and select your downloaded custom ROM.

13. Once it is complete, select the Reboot option and allow the device to reboot.

14. Please make a note that the initial boot will take long time than the expected time.
