How to Install a Custom ROM on HTC Wildfire S

In this guide we have given the step by step instructions to flash ClockWorkMod, Kernel and ROM on HTC Wildfire S device.

Pre requisites:

  • Before start to proceed, we are highly recommend you to take backup of all your datas (i.e SMS, MMS, Call logs, APN Settings etc) which was available in your phone. Just in case, you lost your data due to any reason you could recover them with the help of backups.
  • We also advise you to charge your device battery fully. Atleast 70% of charge is recommend from our side; to avoid your device getting switched off due to battery low during the middle of the process.
  • And also disable or uninstall all the antivirus suites because this may interrupt the process.

Instructions:

1. First unlock the bootloader

2. After that download any custom kernel you want.

3. Then download the recovery from here.

4. Then again download any ROM that you want to place it on SD card.

5. Open the Windows Terminal Emulator in directory where you have fastboot files (you got them during unlocking bootloader).

6. After that put your phone in the fastboot mode by (when device is off) holding power button and volume down, than confirming “fastboot” option by pushing power button.

7. Once you put your device in the fastboot mode; then connect your device to PC using USB cable.

8. In open terminal emulator on PC type

9. If terminal shows you one device available you can proceed to next step.

10. In a terminal type:

fastboot flash recovery RECOVERYNAME.img
fastboot flash boot KERNELNAME.img

11. After that disconnect the USB Cable from the phone and confirm “bootloader” option by pushing power button.

12. Highlight “recovery” using volume buttons and confirm power button.

13. You will see now CWM recovery.

14. Then select “wipe user data/factory reset”.

15. Go to “install zip from sd card”.

16. Then “choose zip from sd card” and choose .zip with your ROM.

17. Confirm the installation and wait.

18. Finally select “reboot system now”

That’s it you’ve done. Enjoy the Custom ROM you have installed in your android phone.
