HP Recently released the new tablet called HP Slate 7. It has just made the announcement and the sale won’t happen right away; we need to wait for that until April month. In contrast to the company’s last consumer tablet, the webOS-based Touchpad, this tablet is targeted at the budget segment.
As the name suggest, the HP Slate 7 is a 7-inch Android tablet that runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, and the build is totally rubbery giving it a better feel than holding several other Android tablets.
It is powered by a dual-core Cortex-A9 processor with 1GB of RAM, and has just 8GB of internal storage but it can be expanded via the microSD slot. Further, the tablet includes Beats Audio speakers, a microUSB port, a soft-touch rubber back, a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing for video chatting.
Internally, there is a Dual-core Cortex A9 chip which clocks the speed of 1.6 GHz, while the FFS+ LCD touchscreen display having a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. HP claims that the display would produce excellent wide viewing angles, while performing good in low light too.
High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching (HFFS) display panel claims to offer wide viewing angles, even in outdoor lighting conditions. It offers 5 hours of battery life when used for continuous video playback.
The new thing offered by this company is; it integrated its ePrint app on the tablet, allowing users to print directly from most apps over Wi-Fi. Besides that, consumers can expect a mostly stock Android 4.1 experience, with HP promising full support for Google apps, including Google Now and Google Play.
Price and Availability :
Although not really competitive with the specs, HP will surely keep the users interested with the pricing at $169 where you get to see similar specs from not-so-popular companies, or higher priced tablets from well-known brands, with an exception of the Nexus 7 tablet from Asus which has better specs and priced moderately high.
The HP Slate 7 tablet will be available in selected countries in the Asia-Pacific Region from April as I have mentioned earlier.
