The rumors about the next android iteration Android 5.0 jelly bean is becoming more and more intense daily and the latest rumor being that Asus is working close with Google to bring the first Nexus tablet that will feature the next gen android OS in it.
Rumor land is quieting down unless the month of June because Google have mentioned that in their I/O conference they will be unveiling their latest Android OS along with the most affordable Google Nexus Tablet which is quoted to be priced at $200 or less.
But now according to the latest rumor it is being hinted that Galaxy Nexus would be the first device to get the next major update even if you are not planning on purchasing a tablet.
Galaxy Nexus is now also available in the play store for just $399 and since it was the first device to feature Android 4.0 ICS and it has been only few months since ICS has been unveiled it stands to be true that Galaxy Nexus will be the device of choice for Google to upgrade it to Android 5.0 jelly bean.
Features of Galaxy Nexus are:
- 4.65inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720
- 1.2 Ghz OMAP 4460 dual-core processor with 1Gb of RAM
- 16Gb of internal storage
- 5MP rear camera with a 1.3MP front facing camera
- 1750mAh Battery
It is true that the Galaxy Nexus that are available from the carrier will receive the updates slowly because the firmware has to be modified according to the carrier specification. But the GSM version of the device is in luck because they don’t require any kind of modification and will be the first to get the Jelly Bean Update.
You may ask why the GSM version of Galaxy Nexus will get the first updates of Android 5.0? That’s because the android 4.0 was released recently and its slowly gaining access to majority of the device but still almost 90% of smartphones out there are waiting for their most awaited update to android 4.0.
So as a result of Google releasing their next major OS very early in June at their I/O conference the Galaxy Nexus stands a very good chance to release the device. Also there isn’t much time for Google to produce a new specific device to launch Android 5.0.
The Nexus tablet that Google is aiming for is an attempt at their entry to tablet market with midrange tablets which will cater to a huge population of crowd who have been worried about spending big bucks on high end tablets.
The rumor that Galaxy Nexus will receive the update was started from a crash report that was made available by a developer in Play store that stated that Android 5.0 jelly bean is being tested on the GSM version of the device.
So what do you think? Will you get an GSM version of the handset to be the first one to receive the update to Android 5.0 Jelly bean? Do let us know on your thoughts.
