Along with other Honeycomb tablet of 2011 Lenovo IdeaPad K1 is the first foray  of the android tablet market, After it was released by a year, it seems like Lenovo is going to drop any support for the IdeaPad K1. However, it isn’t doing this without a smart giving away gift.

Lenovo is going to release a non-customized update known as the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, it won’t consist of Google play store, applications, or even Lenovo’s launcher. Even though this might sound great to developers, it definitely isn’t appealing to customers.

Installing the needed ICS firmware on the K1 will result in all the data to be deleted from your tablet whether it is applications, movies, documents, or even pictures.

This is why you should ensure that you have a backup option if you consider these documents to be important. The company will not be providing customers with any OTA updates and this means that you will have to download it from the website itself.

On the other hands, developers can expect to receive the source code from the company shortly.

The best thing about this is that Lenovo has created a clear instruction guide that teaches customers how to upgrade their Honeycomb Android tablet to their new Ice cream Sandwich. The guide also consists of screenshots and this is useful for beginners. You can download it here and this guide from here if
