Microsoft recently launched a new mobile app powered by Windows Azure called HelpBridge. This app allows you to ask help after a natural disaster, as well as offer to give it.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the launch is an excellent initiative to meet everyone around one cause i.e supporting each other during a time of need.

HelpBridge

It is really very simple to use. If you need assistance at the time of natural disaster then just open the HelpBridge app and select the option where you can ask for it.

If you are a benevolent then you can use this app to help others. You can help them by donating time, goods, or money. You can donate the money via Paypal. Suppose if you want to donate goods instead of money then this app keeps a list of vital goods that they are needed. You can sent them directly to the organizations including the American Red Cross, CARE, and Global Giving. Lastly, you can volunteer your time also if you have it.

HelpBridge-1

You can download the HelpBridge app right now from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and the Windows Phone Store. Alas, it is available only in the United States right now. But we can expect Microsoft will be expanding its regional support soon.

You can get the quick demo from this video. The help bridge app allows you to assemble a list of friends and family members who you would want to notify in an emergency or natural disaster.

On your command, Help Bridge will then quickly send multiple messages simultaneously over e.mail and text and allow the people to know that you are safe or require help.

Interestingly, this HelpBridge app also post an emergency message on your Facebook Timeline. Further you can even provide your precise location via your phone’s GPS signal in any of these.

Whether you are in an area often hit by natural disasters or not, this is an app worth a download.
