MWC has kicked off and Sony has bought with them three new brand new devices to showcase. Xperia S which was unveiled in CES 2012 which was held in January has already started shipping and is available for purchase.
Xperia P and Xperia U are the two devices that Sony have unveiled in MWC. Both the devices feature NovaThor U8500 chipsets having dual core 1 GHz processor and Mali-400MP GPU which has been proven to be the best GPU in the market.
On the other hand Xperia S features the more traditional Qualcomm snapdragon dual core processor which you might be familiar with in Xperia Arc S.
Let’s take a closer look at the two brand new devices namely Xperia P and Xperia U.
Sony Xperia P
This device features a brand new 4inch reality display with WhiteMagic technology. We have already experienced the goodness offered by the reality display which is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine which is responsible for producing very good colors with good contrast levels.
The whitemagic technology now adds a fourth subpixel to the traditional RGB setup of the reality display which Sony claims to boost the brightness of the display. This is good news for the display because it already had good contrast levels but even at maximum brightness settings the screen appeared dull. But now you won’t be complaining about dimness of the screen thanks to the whitemagic technology.
Xperia P has an aluminum unibody design and also features the same transparent strip as found in the Xperia S. The device will be available to you in three color options at the time of release.
Xperia P also features an 8MP camera which is able to shoot 1080p videos thanks to the dual core processor. You also get an HDMI port through which you can connect the device to an HD TV to view pictures and videos.
Xperia P will be available with Android 2.3.7 skinned with their custom UI which is similar to that found in Xperia Arc S or other Sony mobiles. Sony has promised an Android 4.0 ICS upgrade later this year.
Sony Xperia U
This device is smaller than the Xperia P with 3.7inch reality screen which features and FWVGA resolution. The Xperia U comes with 5MP camera but don’t be disappointed because it is able record videos at 1080p resolution.
Xperia U also features the transparent strip as found in other Xperia devices but the difference in this one is that it changes color to match the wallpaper that you have currently set as in your home screen.
Even the bottom plastic of the device is interchangeable and you get three different colors right out of the box. In the box you will also get Smart Headset which features in ear plugs and tangle free cables along with an Smart key with which you will be able to launch any of your favorite applications.
Xperia U will be available with Android 2.3.7 but later this year the devices will be upgraded to ICS.
