Over the years Sony Ericsson have released very successful handsets under Xperia brand name and this time they have done it again by releasing Xperia pro which aims at giving the best of QWERTY physical keyboard along with best multimedia capabilities.
With this device the Xperia line up is complete and this device is aimed at business man or mobile enthusiasts who use their device for emailing and taking notes and what not.
This phone falls short of the top droid in that its missing an dual core processor which is becoming the norm these days but most people would say that having a physical QWERTY keyboard beats having multiple core processor since mobile typing becomes less of a hassle.
Looks And Feel:
The device is made completely out of plastic and is almost the same size as the Xperia Neo which is a remarkable thing because even after the addition of the QWERTY keyboard they were able to keep the device thin.
The device has similar backward curve that can be found on other Xperia devices but is not as prominent as the Xperia Arc. The device has no extra styling and looks very plain.
The extra gloss of the device is a finger print magnet and within a few days of use the device gets covered in the grease and is quite difficult to clean, especially the black color where the smudges are more visible as compared to the silver or red color ones.
The front of the device is taken up by the 3.7inch LCD screen with resolution of 854×480 pixels. Xperia Pro employs the same Mobile BRAVIA Enhancement that is found on the Xperia Arc, Neo, Arc S and Ray. It is one of the best LCD unit that is available in the market and provides very pleasant color with good contrast and also has good sunlight legibility.
When you slide the Xperia pro the QWERTY keyboard on which the keys are prominent and well-spaced. The keys have good press feedback and the keyboard is also beautifully lit which is rare among QWERTY phone. The keyboard hinge is quite sturdy and with frequent use you can be assured it won’t be damaged.
The phone is built well and is also very comfortable to hold. The keyboard is very comfortable to type on and the back cover of the device is sometimes a hassle to open.
Hardware And Performance:
Timescape is available in the form of a widget and it will bring all of your communications together in one window.
Xperia pro is powered by the same snapdragon chipset that can be found on the Xperia Arc which is 1 GHz CPU with Adreno 205 GPU and 512MB of RAM.
The camera on Xperia pro is an 8MP unit with Exmor R sensor which theoretically should provide improved low light photography.
The image produced by the device is good with enough fine detail and noise levels are kept low. Although the camera unit is not the best among the 8MP mobile camera it still does a splendid job. Even in low light there is some noise but still the pictures appear well lit and with plenty of detail.
Now the Xperia lineup is complete with the addition of the QWERTY droid handset. This device will be popular among the business users and social networking fans as they will have more use of the QWERTY keyboard.
